Jude Boudreaux, Julia Davis Featured in Gambit Article

The Planning Center’s Jude Boudreaux, CFP®, Senior Financial Planner and Julia Davis, Financial Planning Analyst, were recently featured in a Gambit article, offering insight into how to approach financial discussions with your partner before marriage. They both identified these pre-marriage talks about money as essential, at the same time recognizing that they can be difficult.

“How we communicate about money is a big deal. It can be uncomfortable to talk about, but if you’re about to get married, there shouldn’t be anything that’s off the table,” said Boudreaux. He also highlighted the importance of dividing responsibilities within a partnership, saying, “We need to be in agreement about an organizational chart for a household, and figure out who is responsible for what…someone is usually more involved with the finance part, so it’s important to communicate and have a way to check in on things.”

Julia pointed out that these financial discussions don’t need to be constant, as that can create ongoing stress. Instead, she suggested scheduling specific times to sit down and talk about money. “Having that time and space carved out makes it feel less scary,” Davis said.
